I'm now firmly in the athiest camp but not because the JW's ruined it for me. I have simply taken an openminded look at many of the transcendent beliefr systems pervasive in the world and found that they all have a common denominator, that being irrational dependence on the unknown.

What are your current beliefs on God and the bible
by Leander inwhen i first left the wts initially my intentions were to continue studying the bible on my own.
but now i really don't see the bible as being a true source of guidance.
as a witness i used to constantly read in the articles that god loves mankind, but how much love could there be if there are so many different religions all claiming to be the right one?

Why is it so easy to summon the Demons?
by LyinEyes ini was thinking about this the other day, and really things just don't make sense to me since leaving the borg.
being jw's we are told to fear the demons, they are there just to get us away from god.
don't buy from yard sales, don't watch demonized movies, don't look at porn because demons love that.

Aren't demons essentially illegal aliens in this country. They need to be reported to INS. I'm sick and tired of these freeloaders with bad intentions entering our borders without documentation.

I do indeed remember crazy Margaret and I remember the guy who'd yell about Knorr. He was probably right. Knorr was a weird duck if there ever was one. I remember his little sex talk for new Bethelites and it was so explicit one of the new girls actually passed out. She probably just had an orgasm. Some of the mid-western girls who would show up for Bethel were just too, too good. Use to make me sick.
I remember bringing one of these little princesses back from a congregation meeting one night on the subway and this nasty old bum sat down next to her. Before long he passed out and laid his head in her lap. I never laughed so hard in my life. She was terrified.

Was there in 1969-1970. I worked on a printing press in the Brooklyn factory. I used to open the window near the press and yell to people on the sidewalk seven floors down, "HELP ME, I'M BEING HELD PRISIONER!!!!". I used to love watching their faces as they'd look up and just keep walking. One day I did it and Max Larson was walking by on the sidewalk. I guess he never figured out where the screams were coming from. I left about 2 months later.
When I was there, it was looked down on for a Bethelite to have an outside job at night or on weekends. ( I think they were called "G Jobs") Near the end, I was spending all of my free time making money as a waiter at a wedding catering place and cleaning apartments for people in the Heights. I had a good friend from Texas and his G Job was as an armed guard on a Wells Fargo truck and as a waiter in the boardroom of U.S. Steel.

What if the U.N doesn't find anything in Iraq?
by kril init hit me a few days ago.
what happens if the u.n. searchs iraq and they find nothing?
i mean it's kind of scary to think what will happen to bush's job approval rating if that happens.

If the UN inspectors find no weapons in Iraq, then we should attack them anyway and create a regime change, just like be did in Afghanistan. We can do it and in the long run it will be better for the stability of the region.

Internet banned?
by gilwarrior ini know that this subject has been talked about many times, but i am convinced that if the wts gets more fanatical, they will eventually ban witnesses from going on the internet.
yeah, i know it sounds goofy, but there are so many witnesses who are leaving as a result of what they have found on the net that the wts will have no choice, but to do it.
they will probably find some "new light" and probably sight some bible scripture.

Yeah, when you really think about it like the WTS would think about the internet, well it's electronic and we know that demon forces operate electronically. There is no WT filter to keep demonism at bay.
Yes, I think they could very well ban the internet, at least forums and chats, and make the rank and file publishers see it as a demonic pipeline. They have in the past prohibited the reading of certain books, watching certain television shows and even doing certain dances. What would be so hard about banning the internet?

MYTHOLOGY IS WONDERFUL SH#% ISN'T IT. The gods and goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology were every bit as quirky and illogical as Jehovah or Yahweh or whatvever tetragramatonesque name you choose.

Official- Bethel cutbacks?
by No Apologies inmy wife told me that last night a letter was read from the society, explaining how all printing operations in brooklyn were being moved to either walkill or patterson, and that worldwide there would be consolidation of the printing operations.
i know there have been rumors like this floating around here for the last month or so, but now it seems there is confirmation.
has anyone else heard about this letter being read?

If the WTS is cutting back, then by extension, Jehovah is cutting back. This leads me to the question, is there a cash crunch in heaven? Or, is Jehovah simply tired of providing food in due season?
I'm not sure how to read this and how Jehovah fits into all of this.

All of the WTS property in Brooklyn Heights would likely be worth a huge fortune. The good people of the Heights will no doubt have a huge block party celebration when and if this occurs. Of course there are the original Columbia Heights complexes, the old Squibb factory and the Adams Street factories and I've lost track of all of the other old hotels and apartment buildings they bought and converted. WOW, real estate brokers will be licking their chops over this one.
Do you think the governing body is cashing out and will be soon disappearing to Switzerland? We can only hope. Someone needs to alert Interpol.

Let's examine this picture more carefully
by drahcir yarrum inthis is a picture of a new kingdom hall from a post several months ago.
i was looking at the entryway and noticed two chairs by the door and thought it was a strange place for two chairs.
are these chairs put there for the use of the "ancient prophets of old" if they should visit the kh?
-

Reborn2002: LOL, all good reasons for two chairs but I believe there MUST be a more sinister reason. I haven't set foot in a KH in almost 20 years so the two chairs seemed odd to me.
Ven: Good point as well. Since I never wore pointy high heels to meetings I wouldn't have thought of the shoe angle.
